The Great Showdown, Part I…

And so it begins…

Sound the sirens!  Rally the troops!  The Battle Cry has been called.

“The Yankees are coming!  The Yankees are coming!”

It’s the third-ranked Powerhouse on MLB Blogs against the tiny, unknown, and unranked opponent…

It’s the Whiskey Girl versus the Cabernet Guy…

Yes, it’s the war between the two most bitter rivals in all of baseball…

Chien-Ming Wang versus Tim Wakefield in THE game of spring training that will prove who has first bragging rights!

Torrie/Daily News

Will I emerge victorious and make Jane Heller proud or will I be forced to eat crow?…

Hopefully, the Yanks win, and I anxiously await the pro-Yankees blog by Miss Julia in her Saturday Roundup…

Or, gulp, I have to begin thinking about what to write for tomorrow’s blog…

…while in Boston…

Happy Friday the 13th!  It should be a day to remember…

That picture of Julia on the Red Sox player is amazing. Which player’s body is it, btw? Since the game isn’t on TV (at least not here in CA), I’ll be glued to MLB.TV and following the action. Do not let us down, Scott. No crow-eating tomorrow. Are we clear??? THE YANKEES MUST WIN!

No pressure or anything from Jane. LOL!
Enjoy the game, Scott. I have not doubt that Jane will be glued to MLB.TV tonight!!

Hi Ginny, I am glad that you didn’t take offense at my comment about you not leaving me any comments. I was just joking, but thought later it might not have come across that way!

Thanks Kaybee! It should be a fun game regardless of who wins…regardless of who = Yankees! 😉

Hi Jane, it is a photo of Mike Lowell. I kept searching for a good one, but the best photos are of Manny and I couldn’t do that to Julia. So, I found an old Mike Lowell photo on Elizabeth’s blog that worked great. You do know that tonight’s game will be played without a single infield regular. Not looking good for the “away” team! At least Youk and Pedroia are still with Team USA, and Papi’s probably still bent about losing to the Netherlands…

So, out of curiosity, what happens if this thing ends in a tie? Is the wager off, or do you both have to hold up your respective ends of the bargain? And I would watch the game, but Francisco Liriano is pitching tonight against the Reds. I gotta keep tabs on our once and future ace.

Well I’m glad that you didn’t use a Manny photo! Scott, it will a great game, I’m sure, down to the bitter end when my Red Sox will rise up victorious! I’m looking forward to it – and might I take this moment to say – GO RED SOX!! ;-D I’m looking forward to your blog – Might I suggest Ted Williams or Yaz! Have a great one – you know where I’ll be tonight!

Okay – why is it that everyone is telling me who to write about for tomorrow? When I think they need to be telling you who to write about Scott! 😉 And I guess we hadn’t thought about a tie. Just so use to Red Sox-Yankees games lasting 4-5 hours! lol! hmmm – in a tie, maybe we both need to write about someone on the Mets! Think both our teams have a history with them! lol!

Hope you night is kind-of, sort-of, not-to-terrible for you! 🙂

    Hi Julia,

Erin brought herself into the fray by asking about ties. Since we hadn’t thought of this possibility, I’d say that if there is a tie, we do not have to write about Yankees or Red Sox. BUT since Erin is now involved, we’d have to write about a Minnesota Twin player.

Thanks for the lineup but I’d better hope that Wang and company bring their A game! I think Tomko is scheduled to pitch too.

Well, time to run home to watch the game! Wish me luck! 🙂

And here I was about to rip you a new one, Scott, for that cut-and-paste of “our” Julia!!! LMMFAO
Seriously, since the question of a tie came up, can I suggest something?? Go ahead with the bet as planned, PLUS…the BOTH of you write something GLOWING about baseball in Washington (past and/or present).
OK, maybe that last part could be hard for both of you, but still…I gotta crack the top 50 some damned way, and I thought “what the hell??”. LMAO
If you ever read my Nats blogs on FanNation, Scott, you’d KNOW I have MONDO opinions when it comes to baseball (or any OTHER sport, for that matter; just check ALL of ’em out).
    Anyway, have fun, you kids!!!

Sorry, I was away. I was doing research on 1940’s second baseman Bobby Doerr. I am getting ready to start reading the History of the Red Sox and finding out more about the Boston Pilgrims since I will need a plethora of players to write about… 😦

  12. crazy19canuck

Hey Scott…you guys must be so darn proud of that Miranda guy at first tonight. Oh well. Win some, lose some. After all it’s just a spring training game, nothing on the line or anything! LOL! 7-4 so far…for Boston…
